Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been full of praise for Joan Garcia and has labelled the summer signing “the best goalkeeper in the world.”
Garcia swapped Espanyol for Barcelona in the summer and has gone on to impress in his first season for Hansi Flick’s side.
Laporta spoke about Garcia at the Catalan Sports Gala on Monday night, an event which saw the stopper handed the award for the most promising male athlete.
“We want to continue to be present in the Copa del Rey, to do well in LaLiga, we have
already won the Super Cup. The intention is to go directly to the round of 16 in the Champions League. The award for Joan is a recognition of his quality and partly Barça, we have the best goalkeeper in the world,” said Laporta.
“We are very proud to have him at the club. We will have a chance of winning the competitions in which we participate, there always has to be a point of fortune to be champions. Intuition tells me that we are doing a good job.”
Garcia kept his 10th clean sheet for Barcelona on Sunday night. He’s hit that landmark in just 22 appearances for the Catalan giants.
