We are 73 days away from the Kansas City Chiefs‘ season-opening game against the Denver Broncos on “Monday Night Football” in Week 1.
The No. 73 jersey is currently worn by Chiefs offensive lineman Matt Waletzko, who took it over after no Chiefs player wore it in 2024.
It was worn by a Super Bowl champion before that, but is he the best of all the team’s all-time players to wear the uniform?
All-time Chiefs who wore No. 73
1. Dave Hill (1963-1974)
2. Nick Allegretti (2019-2023)
3. Zach Fulton (2010-2013)
4. Bob Simmons (1977-1983)
5. Joe Valerio (1992-1995)
This was a lucky number for the big uglies to be scheme up as a pass catcher, apparently. Both Allegretti and
Valerio have scored touchdowns for the Chiefs.
73: The number of solo tackles by Nick Bolton last season
The Chiefs’ middle linebacker totaled the ninth-most solo tackles by any NFL linebacker during the 2025 season, although he did not lead his team as a whole in tackles; safety Chamarri Conner edged him out with 75 solo tackles.
73 is the number of solo tackles Bolton has had each of the last two seasons. In 2023, he missed time and only played in eight games, but Bolton is still chasing the incredible mark of 108 solo tackles during the 2022 season. It’s his career-high mark, and 73 is the closest he has come to matching it since.
