The NL East leading Atlanta Braves, who have yet to lose a series this season, continue to bring pitchers in and out. Today, they made the week’s third reliever-related roster change (well, four if you consider Luke Williams a reliever).
Hey, who knew that a 6.30 ERA and 6/5 K/BB rate from a marginal pitcher might be a problem? The Braves have designated Osvaldo Bido for assignment. When Martin Perez was announced as Friday’s starter last night, you knew that it was not going to be good news for someone. As it turned out, it was bad news for two someones, as Hayden Harris has also been sent to Gwinnett. I’m not really sure what Harris did, as he has yet to pitch for the Atlanta Braves in 2026. Maybe he was standing too close to Osvaldo.
So for Friday’s game, it’s Martin Perez and Ian Hamilton in, Osvaldo Bido and Hayden Harris out. Bido was a late addition to the Braves as an extra pitcher as Spencer Strider started the year on the Injured List. Strider was placed on the IL with a left (non-throwing side) oblique muscle strain. As we reported earlier, he is pitching tonight for the Rome Braves, and Sean Murphy is catching.
So the Braves put their Muñoz in, they took their Dylan out. They put their Hayden in, and told Bido to take a hike. Hamilton is with the Braves and Hayden is not (why, who knows?) That what the bullpen hokey-pokey is all about.
