Grammy nominated recording artist Jelly Roll competed this year at WWE SummerSlam in a tag team match with Randy Orton against the duo of Drew McIntyre and YouTube douchebag Logan Paul. Jelly was ultimately
pinned in the match, but he looked impressive in defeat for a celebrity.
One reason why Roll lost the match is because his WWE story isn’t over yet. In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, the celebrity star confidently stated, “I will wrestle again, for sure.” He noted that Bad Bunny’s matches in WWE are what made him want to wrestle in the first place, describing Bunny as “the first celebrity I ever watched do it that didn’t disgust me a little bit.”
Jelly later explained why he needs to return to a WWE ring for at least one more match.
Roll: “I want to run it back. I want to do one more. I know why Bad Bunny had to do Backlash now, because I know he walked out of that ring that night [at WrestleMania 37] knowing how much more he could give.”
Van Vliet: “You want a singles match this time?”
Roll: “I don’t know. I don’t really know what I want. I just know that I need to, and… a dream scenario is, I’d like to get involved for like, a run. I’d like to wrestle every Friday, you know what I mean? I’d like to get involved for like a six to nine month run. But I definitely got to do one more though, man. Just cause, it’s like anything else in life. You did it once and you think you were prepared, but you [weren’t]. And you leave there, and all I could think about is everything I know I could have done a little better. Like, I just started getting really comfortable bumping the week we went out. And I’m so much more comfortable taking full-blown clotheslines and stuff now. I got so much more…”
Late in the interview, Van Vliet described Jelly as a“future WWE Hall of Famer.” Roll was initially taken aback by the notion, but then quickly realized the host was probably right. It’s hard to disagree, given how the WWE HOF selection process has no ballots that we’re aware of and is pretty much up to the whims of one guy. At any rate, if Jelly eventually returns to WWE and raises his game even higher for his next match(es), there won’t be any doubt about his future HOF induction. It’s clear from this interview that he’s very passionate about pro wrestling and wants to put on an even better show for the fans next time.
