Today, the Portland Thorns have announced that midfielder Jessie Fleming has signed a contract extension through the 2028 season.
“Jessie has been instrumental to everything we’ve built on and off the field,” said President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos. “She’s one of the best midfielders in the league and a tremendous leader whose professionalism, competitiveness and commitment set the standard every day. Extending Jessie through 2028 is a significant step forward for the Thorns
in our pursuit of an NWSL Championship and we’re thrilled she’ll continue to be a cornerstone of our roster.”
The CANWNT captain arrived in the Rose City in January 2024 and her contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2026 season, before the new contract.
She has started in 55 of her 65 NWSL appearances and has scored two goals and recorded six assists.
Internationally, Fleming is the captain of the CANWNT and has already appeared in three FIFA Women’s World Cups and Olympic Games (Gold Medal in 2021). She has earned 157 caps (139 starts) with 20 goals and 15 assists.
Agoos and the front office have made multiple moves that shape their midfield for years to come:
In November of 2025, Olivia Moultrie signed an extension through the 2029 season.
The club has also just brought on Nina Nijstad via transfer from PSV with a contract through 2029.
To complete their midfield, Fleming has now been extended through 2028.
