Joe Cowan: 8/10
Didn’t have a huge amount to do but did make two fantastic saves, firstly tipping a header over in the first half and then a great reflex save early in the second half.
Alex Lienard: 8/10
Played at right back tonight and looked the part, was very comfortable defensively with Wednesday not getting anything out of him but he also caused problems when he charged up the right wing.
Luke Bell (C): 7/10
Was solid alongside O’Nien, didn’t give Burstow a sniff in the box and also used the ball well, playing some lovely balls into channels for the forwards.
Luke O’Nien: 6/10
Was pretty comfortable tonight defensively but was at fault for the opening goal, sloppily giving the ball away in a dangerous position.
Jenson Jones: 6/10
Didn’t quite get to grips with his man defensively and wasn’t careful enough with the ball at times, did grow into the game though and got better after the break.
Alan Browne: 6/10
Was tidy in possession, as you’d expect, and had a couple of good chances to find the back of the net but was two poor attempts when well placed.
Jack Whittaker: 6/10
Worked tirelessly out of possession in midfield but without much to show for it on the ball.
Felix Scott: 6/10
Struggled a bit with the physicality of the home side, did set up Ogunsuyi for a tap in the second half but had drifted offside in the build up.
Tom Proctor: 7/10
Was the pick of our attackers, showing a lot of maturity for such a young player. Never stopped running off the ball and his movement and vision caused the home side a few issues.
Charlie Dinsdale: 7/10
Linked up well with Lienard down the right and made some dangerous, jinking runs. Unfortunately they were never quite high enough up the pitch to cause problems.
Trey Ogunsuyi: 6/10
Competed really well against experienced defenders, held the ball up and tried to play in teammates. Doesn’t look confident on the ball at the moment though, with the ball often bobbling away from him or snatching at the few half chances he had.
Substitutes
Marcus Neill: 6/10
Headed just wide with his first touch from a Proctor free kick, then did well to down the channel and pick out Browne on the edge of the box.
Joe Neild: 6/10
Tidy on the ball after coming on.
James Barker: 6/10
Burst into the box near the end to get a foot onto O’Nien’s cross but the attempt went just wide.
Kay Munyakazi: N/A
A late change with the game already out of reach.
Man of the Match: Alex Lienard
A decent showing against a League One outfit for the youngsters tonight and I thought Lienard was the pick of the bunch. Despite the home side seeing a lot of the ball in dangerous areas, Lienard never looked troubled, competed well physically with more experienced players and was a good option going forward down the right.
