Brian Cage has been out with injury since April. The Machine provided an update on his health, and the news is not good.
Cage posted a video to explain that he suffered a setback and needs to have surgery again to fix complications. The primary injury was a torn quadriceps tendon in his leg. Up to that point, Cage was also working through the pain of a knee injury. Due to the long recovery period for the quad, Cage proactively decided to get an operation on his right knee as well to remedy that situation.
He went through all the rehab tricks, like hyperbaric chamber bed, red light therapy, dry needling, shock waves, and more.
Cage’s recovery looked promising and ahead of schedule. The optimistic plan was to return for AEW Full Gear. Unfortunately, he got checked at WrestleDream and was not medically cleared. That’s when Cage found out that the implant from his knee surgery didn’t grow into the bone. That means another operation booked for next week to fix this issue.
It’s still unclear how much longer Cage will be on the injured list. The setback could just be a smaller situation to deal with. Cage said doctors are hoping for the best and planning for the worst when they cut open his knee to assess the matter.
Cage added this comment on Instagram:
I busted my ass and have done everything imaginable to come back as quick and as healthy as possible.
That being said I have some news. News that nobody would want to hear. There is an issue on the operation I had on my right knee. I was fighting an uphill battle that no amount of therapy, modalities, stem cells, peptides, etc we’re going to fix. I have to go back under the knife for them to try to fix or correct the situation.
Being upset and depressed upon hearing this news is beyond an understatement. It’s maybe question a lot and bring a bond a bunch of doubt. I hate having this what was me mindset, and hopefully when they get in there it’s best case scenario. And even if it’s worst case, once we get this fixed and back on track I’ll pick up the pieces I’ll rebuild and become a better version of “the machine” once again.
Best of health to Cage on his recovery from injury.
How would you like to see AEW use Brian Cage when he returns to action?
