Following the game, let’s look at how each player changed their stock. Keep in mind that information can be hard to come by for players, depending on their performance or their position. If anyone else can find info, please post in the comments.
For starters, there were challenges stemming from the Hula Bowl this year that contributed to the lack of updates.
I was able to find this tweet from back in September about issues last year for staff not being paid.
On January 6th, they had to shift from a practice to a walkthrough due to a lack of equipment.
Also, once again, the Hula Bowl did not air on CBS Sports because the Hula Bowl did not pay the fee to have it aired.
And some people left early, tired of all the nonsense.
Things like this over the past few years have frustrated agents, and it would not be at all surprising for agents to have their players avoid this event if possible. This also means some draft analysts and other reporters are spending less time covering the event due to the mishaps.
One agent told me, “I’m 100% steering my clients away from that event. It seems like the American Bowl not only has better talent this year but is a better product and game altogether.”
That all being said, here is the information found for the players.
TE Evan Svoboda (Wyoming)
- Synopsis: Svoboda already made the switch to tight end, but now needs to show NFL scouts he can play the position and offer some versatility at the next level. In the videos above, it appears he was able to showcase his blocking in pass protection and demonstrate that he can run routes effectively enough to win against top players. Overall, it appears he answers some questions.
- Stock Report: SLIGHTLY UP
OL Caden Barnett (Wyoming)
- Synopsis: Unfortunately, no information was able to be found for Caden. It’s already tough for offensive linemen and given the trouble with the Hula Bowl this year, it was extra tough. There’s no doubt he played hard and turned a few heads, but nothing can be confirmed. But in this case, no news isn’t good news.
- Stock Report: SLIGHTLY DOWN
OL Jack Walsh (Wyoming)
- Synopsis: These social media posts don’t represent a large sample size concerning Walsh, but there are positive reports. At least according to one opinion, he was among the best five offensive linemen, which counts for something. It sounds like it was more good than not good.
- Stock Report: SLIGHTLY UP
