The Carolina Panthers front office is busy throughout the season with transactions, roster moves, and injury updates. Here’s what’s happening at Mint Street this week.
Injuries
The Panthers overall team health continues to improve on the whole this week with only a couple of noteworthy injuries to monitor as Carolina faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The biggest loss this week is outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips who has been ruled out due to a hamstring issue. In five games this season the sixth-year veteran
has 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and six quarterback hits.
Veteran right tackle Taylor Moton made his 2026 debut last week and looks ready to roll in Week 7. Moton’s backup, first round rookie Monroe Freeling, is questionable for Sunday after missing the Panthers previous game with a knee issue.
Running back AJ Dillon missed last week’s game with an ankle injury, but he has been a full participant in this practice leading up to Sunday’s kickoff.
Transactions
Designated LB Bam Martin-Scott to return to practice
Martin-Scott suffered a hamstring injury before the season began and is still on the injured reserve. By now being designated to return to practice, the 21-day window is now open and he’s on the path to returning to action. The former South Carolina Gamecock joined the Panthers last year as an undrafted free agent and had a strong rookie campaign. He appeared in all 17 of Carolina’s games in 2025 as a special teams mainstay, registering 21 tackles and one forced fumble.
Signed RB Tre Tyus to the active roster from the practice squad
If you want to see how unstable life is for young undrafted players, just look at Tre Tyus’s transaction page. Tyus went undrafted last year, signed with the Detroit Lions, and was subsequently waived during final roster cuts. In October of last year he signed with the Panthers practice squad but didn’t see the field.
Carolina signed him to a futures contract for 2026 and this year they have either waived him from the practice squad, re-signed him to the practice squad, or elevated him to the active man roster in 11 separate transactions since late August. He’s on the upswing this week after another elevation to the active roster.
He has appeared in three games for the Panthers this year with five kick returns with an average of 25.4 yards per return.
Waived OT Albert Reese
With the return of Taylor Moton adding to the number of Carolina’s linemen on the active roster, the Panthers released offensive tackle Albert Reese. The 6-foot-7, 330-pound undrafted rookie from Mississippi State made the initial 53-man roster, but he never saw the field for the Panthers.
