A big and welcomed surprise on the recruiting trail went Florida State’s way today, as blue-chip linebacker Jernard Albright flipped his commitment from South Carolina to FSU.
Albright made a surprise visit to Tallahassee this weekend and left as the newest member of #Tribe27. He’d been committed to the Gamecocks since last Christmas but that’s done now, with Albright stating “Florida State is most definitely 10 steps ahead of South Carolina” to Noles247. Ernie Sims did an excellent job showing Albright his future
as a Will backer, with Omar Graham providing a major assist as Albright’s host.
Albright is 6’2, 205 pounds and played for Effingham County in Georgia before transferring to St. Francis Academy in Baltimore, Maryland for his senior season. He finished his junior season with 50 tackles, three pass deflections, and two interceptions in nine games.
He’s considered the 169th best player in the nation by 247Sports Composite (12th best safety and 5th best player in MD). That background as a safety will be very helpful in the Will role at Florida State.
