Arsenal are reportedly planning to firm up their interest in Julian Alvarez and open talks with Atletico Madrid over a potential move for the Argentina star.
According to AS, the Gunners want to negotiate for the player and hope to bring him back to the Premier League for a second stint.
Alvarez is Barcelona’s top transfer target this summer and the Catalans have reportedly already made a €100m offer. Atletico are thought to want €150m for Alvarez, and AS say Arsenal have the finances available to complete
such a deal.
There’s no detail yet on whether Alvarez would be keen on an Arsenal move. The striker spent time previously in the Premier League with Manchester City but reports says his priority is to go to Barca.
Arsenal have come off a season where they’ve won the Premier League and lost to PSG in the final of the Champions League on penalties.
The Gunners spent heavily on their squad last summer, bringing in the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, but reportedly want to sign a goalscorer this summer.
