Undoubtedly, we all have Maxx-Crosby-trade-rumor fatigue, but the reality is it’s not going to go away.
After the March agreed upon trade of Crosby at the Baltimore Ravens was nixed by the Ravens, the Crosby trade speculation hasn’t dead. In fact, it has recently ramped up.
Reporter Vinny Bonsignore, who has covered the Raiders closely, proposed that the San Francisco 49ers should trade for Crosby as a response to their NFC West rival, the Los Angeles Rams recently acquiring star pass-rusher Myles
Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.
Bonsignore’s piece was opinion-based. But he wrote that their is interest in Crosby around the league and the Raiders would still likely consider dealing him if the price was right.
Bonsignore wrote that the belief around the league is a 49ers-Raiders trade could look like this: Crosby for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and second-year pass-rusher Mykel Williams, who was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2025 draft.
This compensation package would surpass the value that the Raiders were to receiver for Crosby from the Ravens. That package was 20226 and 2027 first-round picks. The value of Williams, who is still 21, would push this trade value past the Baltimore package.
The Ravens’ package was the best offer out there at the time. I’m not sure the Raiders would get a better package now after the trade fell apart because the Ravens didn‘t like the results of Crosby’s physical. And, just because the Browns received a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and young pass-rusher Jared Verse doesn’t automatically mean Crosby’s value has increased in the past three months.
Also, if the 49ers were to make this deal, they would very likely want to see Crosby’s knee in person before agreeing to a deal. No one would want a repeat of what happened in March. So, there is a lot of moving parts here. But this article was written for a reason, so it’s worth paying attention to.
Would you make this deal if you were the Raiders?
