Prior to taking a trip to Slovenia with the rest of his teammates later in August, Austin Reaves is first touring China with the shoe brand Rigorer, with which he has a signature sneaker\.
But he still has trash-talking Luka Dončić at the front of his mind.
During one of his recent stops in Hong Kong, Reaves took questions from the media and was asked about getting the opportunity to go to Europe. Immediately, Austin let it be known that he was going to beat Luka in golf.
“I’m going to feel great. I’m gonna
kick his a– in golf. That’ll be a lot of fun. But it’ll just be good to get around everybody. We got a fairly new team, a lot of new guys, so it’ll just be good to be around them, get to know one another off the court and just build that chemistry there.”
The way his mind immediately went to finding a way to throw a dig at Luka is incredible work. That’s a man who talks trash for a living and not just some amateur.
Earlier this offseason, Reaves spoke to the media in Las Vegas during Summer League and also revealed that he’s constantly in contact with Luka.
“Luka,” Reaves said, “I mean, he’s one of my best friends on this planet. Talk to him almost every single day. He sends me videos of his golf swing and asks me what he can do to get better, and I tell him I’m not a coach.”
Reaves landed in Hong Kong earlier this week and has been doing events and meet-and-greets with fans along the way.
Reaves isn’t new to traveling around Asia with his shoe company. Two years ago, he made a trip to the Philippines after becoming an ambassador for a local sports betting app.
Reaves’ barnstorming tour will soon head to Slovenia with his teammates, new and old. Hopefully, someone will be posting to social media during the trip because there will definitely be lots of trash talk between Luka and Austin at the very least.
