AEW Women’s World Champion Mercedes Moné isn’t cleared to compete after suffering a broken nose when she won the title last month at All in. Former champions Thekla and Willow Nightingale fought each other tonight (Sept. 26) at All Out to determine the number one contender for Mone’s return to the ring next month (Oct. 17) at WrestleDream.
Willow entered the match with a broken hand, and that injury proved to be her downfall. The finish first saw the Sisters of Sin (Skye Blue & Julia Hart) interfere
and target Willow’s hand. However, their execution didn’t exactly go according to plan.
Even though the Sisters of Sin failed, Willow didn’t have enough grip strength to get Thekla up for her power bomb finisher. The Toxic Spider took advantage by stomping Willow’s broken hand into the mat. She followed up with one more stomp on her neck to seal the deal and score the three count.
Thekla has been the hottest star in the AEW women’s division with her recent promo work leading up to this show, and now she gets to finally go one-on-one with The CEO next month on PPV. Mercedes even came out afterwards to tease the showdown.
