The New Orleans Saints offense is set to be much better in 2026. With the influx of new weapons, a full offseason for Tyler Shough and Kellen Moore, and one of the best offensive lines this team has had in a while, the pieces are set for an exciting year. But with all the weapons, some players may have to take a step back in 2026, and according to the Bleacher Report, that may happen in the TE room.
In their new article predicting each team’s potential bust in 2026, Bleacher Report labels Juwan Johnson
as the Saints’ bust:
“Last season, Juwan Johnson logged career highs in multiple receiving categories, hauling in 77 passes for 889 yards and three touchdowns. He may not come close to matching those numbers this year.
The Saints selected wide receivers Jordyn Tyson and Bryce Lance in the first and fourth rounds of this year’s draft, respectively. They also added a couple of tight ends in Noah Fant and third-rounder Oscar Delp.
While Delp may need time to develop, Fant could carve out a role in the passing game and eat into Johnson’s playing time. The veteran newcomer has 334 receptions for 3,593 yards and 18 touchdowns.“
Looking at their reasoning, Johnson is an understandable choice. Adding weapons to the offense will be great for the team’s success, but for individuals, it could take away from production. Where this is most felt is in the TE room, and instead of Johnson being the clear top target there, Noah Fant and Oscar Delp are being heavily utilized.
The one point that was not brought up was the inconsistencies. Johnson has had some issues with drops, fumbles, and missed blocks that put the offense in tough situations. Although the high moments are exciting and extremely beneficial to the offense, the lows are equally clear.
Johnson has lower production in 2026 than in 2025, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as consistency improves.
