Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jager Burton, who, according to head coach Matt LaFleur, is dealing with back spasms, went from a non-participant in Wednesday’s practice to a limited participant in Thursday’s practice. Burton is the only player whose status changed today.
Players who remain as non-participants are left guard Aaron Banks (knee/toe), running back Chris Brooks (ankle) and offensive lineman Jacob Monk (quadricep). LaFleur told the press on Thursday that the team was going to give
Brooks another day of rest before seeing how his ankle holds up. Brooks went down against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was previously the team’s number one back in terms of snap counts. If the Packers are down Brooks, they’ll only have two players at the position on the 53-man roster, which probably means that Green Bay will need to call up Pierre Strong Jr. from the practice squad against the Chicago Bears.
Limited participants in practice today were right tackle Anthony Belton (knee), defensive lineman Anthony Campbell (ankle), edge defender Lukas Van Ness (shoulder) and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt (ankle). LaFleur said that there are no concerns about Belton being a limited participant this week, as the current expectation remains that he will be starting as a bookend on Sunday.
In Micah Parsons news, The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman noted that the All-Pro edge defender was running at practice today, even though he hasn’t had his 21-day practice window open up. Currently, Parsons remains on the physically unable to perform list.
The Bears had significant changes on their injury report, as offensive lineman Jonah Jackson (ankle), running back D’Andre Swift (hip/knee), offensive lineman Joe Thuney (pectoral) and offensive lineman Darnell Wright (ankle) were all elevated from non-participants on Wednesday to limited participants on Thursday. With that being said, linebacker Keyshaun Elliott seemed to take a backslide with his quadricep injury, as he went from limited to a non-participant.
Beyond Elliott, the only other non-participants in Chicago’s practice today were quarterback Caleb Williams (hamstring) and running back Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe). The Bears’ running back room and offensive line is a little banged up right now, so it’ll be interesting to see how they hold up against Green Bay in Week 5.
