Last month, Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala revealed that he had been diagnosed with a neurological condition causing temporary absences. This came following two instances where Musiala had developed said absences on the pitch — once against FC Heidenheim and once against RB Leipzig. This news was shocking to many, as there have been no documented instances of footballers with similar neurological conditions, though it is seen with American football. Several NFL players have had successful careers
on anti-seizure medication.
Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl, in an interview with Bild, spoke about Bayern’s summer and the topic of Musiala’s condition came up.
“Unlike for the public, this situation has been part of everyday life for us for some time now,” he revealed (as transcribed by @iMiaSanMia.) “At the moment, I have a good impression. His medication has been increased again, and things are moving in the right direction.
“Now it is important to give him the peace and quiet he needs. I hope that, when he is on the pitch, the focus will once again be on football, that people will simply leave him alone and give him their support.”
