Mike Garafolo is reporting that the Tennessee Titans have signed free agent quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year deal.
Trubisky will obviously be the backup to Cam Ward. This deal likely means the end of Will Levis’s time with the Titans. There is nothing out there about that yet, but it is hard to believe they would go out and get Trubisky if
they were planning on keeping Levis around.
Trubisky was the second overall pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had some success with the Bears, including throwing for 3,223 yards with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2018. His production fell off after that, and he left Chicago for the Buffalo Bills after his rookie contract was up.
Trubisky is a big upgrade over Brandon Allen, who was Ward’s backup last season. Even with that being said, here’s to hoping the only snaps he takes in 2026 are when the Titans are blowing a team out late in the fourth quarter.
