Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard is receiving national recognition after delivering one of his best performances of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bernard was nominated for the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week award following an impressive 11-catch, 87-yard, one-touchdown performance in Pittsburgh’s Week 6 matchup against Tampa Bay.
The rookie was among the nominees announced Monday, joining Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Houston Texans
quarterback C.J. Stroud among the AFC’s candidates.
Bernard’s performance highlights his growing role in the Steelers’ passing attack. His 11 receptions provided a reliable option for the offense, set a franchise rookie record, and his touchdown added a game-winning scoring punch in Pittsburgh’s victory over the Buccaneers.
For a rookie still establishing himself at the NFL level, earning recognition alongside established quarterbacks such as Lawrence and Stroud represents another encouraging step in Bernard’s development.
The nomination also adds to the momentum surrounding Pittsburgh’s offense as the Steelers look to build on their Week 6 success and continue competing in the AFC North.
