It’s the biggest single sporting event in the world, and it all comes down to today. This afternoon, billions will gather for the 2026 World Cup final, which takes place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. There, we will crown a champion. Either Spain will earn its second World Cup title or defending champion Argentina will become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to repeat as World Cup champions, adding a fourth star to their jersey in the process.
There’s star power on both teams, but an interesting
style clash in how they play. Spain is currently riding a record-tying 37 match unbeaten streak, and what a match it would be to set the record. Spain has been doing it with defense, only conceding one goal the entire tournament. And then when they need it, their offense has come through, providing key goals to stun their opponents and then allowing the defense to hold them off.
Argentina has played comeback ball. They have had deficits in a few of their knockout stage matches, but they have the magic of Lionel Messi on their side. But, it’s other players also getting it done, getting crucial goals when it feels like everyone is finally saying that their magic has run out. Do they have one more rabbit in the hat against Spain? That is the question.
Find a good spot to watch this one as we crown a champion.
