What is the story about?
One of the biggest reasons for excitement heading into a new season is seeing how competition for places pushes players to reach another level. Bayern Munich has strengthened the squad this summer, and several starting spots are far from guaranteed. Vincent Kompany will have plenty of difficult decisions to make, and those battles could ultimately shape the club’s success across all competitions.

- Alphonso Davies vs. Nathaniel Brown: Davies is still one of the fastest and most dangerous full-backs in football, but Bayern Munich invested heavily in Brown. Will the newcomer immediately challenge for the role, or will the competition push Davies back to his very best?
- Aleksandar Pavlović vs. Tom Bischof: Two of Germany’s brightest young midfielders are battling for what could become a long-term role in Bayern Munich’s midfield. Will Pavlović continue his rise, or can Bischof make an immediate impact?
