According to ESPN’s Jeff Kassouf, the North Carolina Courage have traded USWNT midfielder Jaedyn Shaw to NJ/NY Gotham FC for an NWSL record $1.25 million in intra-league transfer fees.
The previous record was set when Kansas City Current sent $600,000 to Utah Royals for USWNT attacker Ally Sentnor.
Although the NWSL’s secondary (summer) transfer window closed on August 25, intra-league trades are allowed until the roster freeze on October 9.
After back-to-back wins, Gotham FC have climbed up to sixth
in the NWSL table, and could be the change of scenery needed for the star.
The Courage hoped she would be the difference-maker and impact star, but it has not worked out. In 19 appearances (10 starts), Shaw has recorded three goals and one assist.
Shaw was previously traded from the San Diego Wave to NC Courage in January for $300,000 in allocation money, an international slot for 2025 and 2026, and $150,000 in intra-league transfer fees.
