After enduring plenty of angst over the last week, the Kentucky Wildcats
finally heard their name called when the 2026 NCAA Tournament was announced on Monday. The Bat Cats were awarded a No. 3 seed in the Morgantown Regional, where they’ll begin postseason play on Friday at 12 PM ET vs. No. 2 seed Wake Forest on ESPN2. The winner will advance to face the winner of No. 1 seed West Virginia vs. No. 4 seed Binghamton in Saturday’s action.
To give you an idea of how thin the line was between making and
missing the field, Liberty, Kentucky, Texas State, and Troy were the last four schools in the tournament. Mercer, Michigan, Pittsburgh, and TCU were the first four schools out.
This marks the fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth the Bat Cats have had under head coach Nick Mingione.
Kentucky’s season came to an end at the hands of West Virginia last season, so this will be a chance for some revenge against the Mountaineers.
