Bayern Munich were made to work against Mainz and claimed a 2-1 win away to the carnival club, their first away victory there in many years. Harry Kane fired a blank yet again, but his creativity meant he set up both of Bayern’s goals to establish a new Bundesliga record:
The Bavarians netted twice thanks to Joshua Kimmich’s long-range effort and Lennart Karl’s well-timed poke
in the box to cancel out Phillip Tietz’s late header. Kane hasn’t scored since the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on October 16, but he has taken up the role of a creator after injuries to key players left the Rekordmeister with little room for error.
Kane will be looking to rediscover his fine goalscoring form during the international break ahead of the return of club football later this month. Bayern will host Köln on November 20 before traveling to the north of France to play Lille in the Champions League.
