Murray’s first snap in purple could redefine an entire offense — and a head coach’s legacy. In this episode of The Real Forno Show, Tyler Forness victory-lapped his months-long prediction that Kyler Murray would win the starting job. “They determined, just like I had, that Kyler Murray was playing good enough to be the starter and that some of the things that J.J. McCarthy was not doing wasn’t starting level,” Forness said. The decision, announced Tuesday, August 11th — one day shy of Murray’s five-month
signing anniversary — sends McCarthy’s future into uncertainty. Forness noted the pressure on Kevin O’Connell: “43 and 25 only gets you so far… they have to do anything they can in order to be able to win football games, and win a playoff game because this is the fifth year of O’Connell’s career and he still does not have one of those yet.” Dave Stefano pushed back on the trade narrative: “He’s indicated he wants to stay. He wants to learn.” Forness countered: “As Stefon Diggs once said, there’s truth to all rumors.”
