Barcelona will soon learn the extent of Frenkie de Jong’s absence as the Dutchman is set for tests to determine the severity of the knee injury he suffered during the World Cup.
De Jong could be facing a four-month spell on the sidelines, which could be even longer given the tricky nature of knee injuries. The absence of a key starter will create an opportunity for others, which could change Marc Casadó’s future with the club.
The 22-year-old looked all but guaranteed to leave after struggling for
minutes last season and had plenty of interest from Saudi Arabia and clubs around Europe, with Barça hoping to get at least €30 million for the midfielder.
But Frenkie’s likely absence could mean a bigger role for Casadó next season, and perhaps one final opportunity to earn consistent minutes under Hansi Flick.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Should Barcelona keep hold of Marc Casadó after Frenkie de Jong’s injury?
