Former Wisconsin Badgers star guard Johnny Davis is returning to the state, as he signed a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.
Davis, 23, was drafted No. 10 overall by
the Washington Wizards in the 2022 NBA Draft. He spent three years in Washington, playing in 112 total games, while averaging 3.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game.
Davis never got his footing offensively, shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from three over his career.
Last year, Davis was traded from Washington to the Memphis Grizzlies, and he was waived by the Grizzlies two weeks later, before appearing in a game. In March, he signed a deal with the Westchester Knicks, the G-League affiliate of the New York Knicks.
Now, he’s back in Wisconsin for the Milwaukee Bucks G-League team, where he’ll hope to carve out a role.
At Wisconsin, Davis broke out in his sophomore year, averaging 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 42.7 percent from the field.
