The transfer portal hasn’t opened yet, that date is saved for after the National Championship game. But that doesn’t stop players and agents from announcing their intention to enter the portal when it opens. After Anthony Robinson II announced his intention to enter the trasfer portal, former UCLA transfer Sebastian Mack made his choice clear today.
A native
of Chicago, Mack began the season as a starter, but the fit within the rotation seemed to waver as the non-conference season wore on. After starting the first 9 games of the season, Mack saw action in only 5 games once SEC conference play started. And only in the 26 point loss to Alabama did he see the floor for more than 10 minutes. In all he played in 18 games, and averaged 12 minutes per game and scoring 7.0 points on 40.7% shooting.
Mack, a 6’3” and 195 lb junior combo guard, started his career at UCLA where he averaged 12.1 points per game as a freshmen. He saw his role and minutes dwindle under Mick Cronin as a sophomore, and entered the transfer portal, ultimately picking Missouri in hopes of rejuvenating his college career. But this past season Mack saw his offensive efficiency dip to a career low, and his role evaporate as Dennis Gates’ program struggled to find consistency.
Mack was a 4-star guard out of Coronado high school in the Las Vegas area of Nevada.
Missouri will use the absence of Mack, plus Robinson, to retool their backcourt.
