Former Barcelona and Atletico star Joao Felix has defended Julian Alvarez after he admitted he thinks it’s best for him to leave Diego Simeone’s side this summer.
Alvarez is wanted at Barcelona to replace Robert Lewandowski and it’s thought that he dreams of playing for Hansi Flick’s side.
Felix was asked about Alvarez after playing for Portugal at World Cup 2026 and says the forward will have good reasons for wanting to move.
“I can’t tell you much, I don’t want to get into that either, but he will
have his reasons. Things will happen in there that only he knows. There are things that stay between the player and the club. May he be happy and do the best for him,” he told Cope.
Alvarez is also at World Cup 2026 currently with Argentina and may have to wait until after his involvement at the tournament ends for his future to be finally resolved.
