After a frustrating, injury-ridden loss on Sunday to the Seattle Seahawks, the Steelers received some good news on Monday regarding an injury to one of the team’s top players.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Highsmith is “not likely” to be placed on injured reserve after suffering what head coach Mike Tomlin called a high-ankle sprain following Sunday’s loss.
There’s no update yet on defensive lineman Isaiahh Loudermilk, who Tomlin also said suffered a high-ankle injury on Sunday. Loudermilk has been starting in place of the injured Derrick Harmon on the defensive line.
As Rapoport points outs, injured reserve takes players out of four games at minimum. As a result, if Highsmith does avoid the designation, it signals that he should be back within a month.
