This is dedicated to the fan of Seattle Seahawks’ future.
You will be interested in seeing how your team did in the days of seasons past. You’ll be proud of the 1983 team who not only made the playoffs for the first time but won two playoffs games to make it to the AFC Championship decider. That’s right – we used to be in the AFC. Weird right!?
Then you will see how we made it to the Super Bowl in 2005.
After
this you will make your way to 2013.
2013 – what a special season and you will just absorb it in moments.
Our best ever 13-3 regular season record.
You will see how we strolled past the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers before dominating the Denver Broncos to finally win it all.
You will see so much but yet you will miss even more.
You won’t appreciate the previous year’s excruciating and unbearable Divisional Playoff loss to the Falcons that it’s still a source of PTSD just to think about it. For your own benefit, never ever go to YouTube to watch it.
You will see we won the season opener over the Carolina Panthers, but the scores alone don’t reveal how anxious we were until a heads-up play from Earl Thomas saved the day.
You will see we started the season 4-0 for the first time, but you won’t see the euphoria we felt after a fantastic pick six from Richard Sherman sent the Houston Texans game to overtime.
You will see we finally lost to the Indianapolis Colts, but you won’t see how helpless we felt as the Colts went on an 11-0 run in the final quarter.
You will see the rest of the season in seconds as your eyes scroll through the scores, but you won’t see the rising confidence we felt as we collectively realized this was a very special team.
You will see the 23-17 victory in the NFC Championship Game but you won’t grasp the nerves we felt as the 49ers had the ball 1st & 10 from our 18 with 30 seconds left. Nor will you know how tense we were as that ball sailed in the air. Lastly you won’t know our pure joy when Richard Sherman made the mother of all knockdowns to send the ball into a waiting Malcolm Smith’s hands sending us to the Super Bowl. Okay this one you can watch on YouTube.
You won’t have to wait two weeks for the Super Bowl, you can read up about it immediately after and there you will see the perfect game unfold. You won’t see how we felt as we came to the realization we were finally going to do it. After so many heartbreakers and different ways we contrived to miss out or misfortune or bad luck conspired against that, there will be no excuses required this way.
Will you shed tears of joy like we did? Probably not.
And all this shows that being a sports fan is to experience every moment with the team, ride every bump and enjoy the highs while enduring the lows. To finally win it all, isn’t just about winning the final game of the season, it’s a culmination of a journey that starts the second the previous Super Bowl is over.
A long spring and summer.
Pre-season, regular season, playoffs.
Reading about it is devoid of emotion and passion. It’s like looking at a picture of a delicious apple and thinking that is the same as tasting it.
Winning a Super Bowl is the ultimate and each one is amazing in its own way but there is nothing like your first, like the team’s first. You will know what I mean when you get to experience your first Super Bowl victory live in real time!!
