Bayern Munich’s backline has been ravaged by injuries over the past year. Alphonso Davies has missed six months with a knee (ACL) tear. Due to a recurring metatarsal fracture, Hiroki Itō has only played 285 minutes for Bayern since his transfer from Stuttgart. Raphaël Guerreiro and Josip Stanišić are both out with recent injuries.
Toward the tail end of the 2024/25 campaign, center-back Kim Min-jae battled through an achilles injury that dropped his form. He was immediately supplanted by newcomer
Jonathan Tah and it looked like the end of the road for Kim. After Tah earned an early yellow card against Chelsea, Kim has looked phenomenal.
In the 68th minute against Hoffenheim, Kim was substituted due to a calf injury. Bayern fans let out a collective snort of frustration but will be pleased with the latest injury update from Sky Sport (via @iMiaSanMia).
Kim Min-jae will be rested for a few days and could be available in time to make the squad against Werder Bremen on Friday.
The six-day break between games could not come at a better time for Kim. He can stretch out the calf strain and hopefully continue his rise back to the starting XI.
