San Diego Padres leadoff man Fernando Tatis Jr. started the 2025 season with a bang. However, he lacked the offensive power the Friar Faithful have come to expect from the Platinum Glove outfielder for a large chunk of the season, but contributed on offense in other ways. Tatis Jr. finished the season with 25 home runs and a slash line of .268/.368/.446. He led the Padres with 111 runs scored, 89 walks and 32 stolen bases, and also added 71 RBI.
Although his final at-bats in the postseason were not what Tatis Jr. or the Padres wanted or expected he was named as a Hank Aaron Award nominee for 2025. The award recognizes the best offensive player in the American League and National League and is voted on by MLB Hall of Famers and fans. Winners will be announced at the MLB Awards in November.
