Kentucky basketball continues to hit the recruiting trail, as Class of 2027 4-star point guard Jason Gardner Jr. is set to visit Lexington on Oct. 18, he tells A Sea of Blue.
Gardner, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard from Fishers, Indiana, is ranked among the top guards in his class. While Kentucky has not yet given him a scholarship offer, the upcoming visit signals positive momentum in Kentucky’s pursuit.
“It has been really good, been building a great relationship with them,” Gardner tells A Sea of Blue
on talking with the staff at Kentucky
The junior guard already holds offers from several high-major programs, including Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma State, Creighton, Ohio State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Purdue, and others. His skill set and early recruitment have placed him firmly on the national radar, with more schools expected to enter the mix as his junior season progresses.
For Kentucky head coach Mark Pope and his staff, Gardner’s visit represents another opportunity to expand their recruiting in the class of 2027 going forward. Although it is early to start recruiting in the class of 2027, Kentucky wants to start building relationships early so they will have a chance in their recruitment come next year.
Gardner’s visit could also be an important step in determining whether a scholarship offer will follow, as Kentucky continues to evaluate its long-term point guard options.
