The Kentucky Wildcats got off to a quick start against Eastern Michigan on Saturday night at Kroger Field. The freshman quarterback, Cutter Boley, looked smooth in his first start of the season. The Wildcats also found great success on the ground and through the air.
Wildcats running back Dante Dowdell had a solid start to the night until it was cut short due to injury. Dowdell was diagnosed with a thigh injury and is questionable to return, per UK Sport’s Network’s Dick Gabriel.
Dowdell never came
back to the game, though that could be due to Kentucky getting a big lead and not needing the veteran to close this out, especially with guys like Jason Patterson waiting in the wings.
Dowdell, a transfer running back from Nebraska, has had a great start to the season while splitting carries in the Wildcats’ backfield alongside Seth McGowan. Dowdell exited the game early in the third quarter with eight rushes for 29 yards. The Mississippi native has had a great start to the season in the backfield, averaging 6.6 yards per carry.
Hopefully, the upcoming bye week will be enough for Dowdell to get back onto the field when Kentucky plays at South Carolina in Week 5.
