Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats have been busy on the recruiting trail today as the fall live period has kicked off. With plenty of players getting in-home visits from the UK staff, the first player to get a visit was 5-star point guard Tay Kinney.
Hosting Coach Pope close to midnight, it was a slight shock as the Cats have been trending in the wrong direction in this recruitment. Louisville has
long carried the momentum for the talented Newport (KY) native, but now, according to Joe Tipton of On3, a new team has emerged at the top with the Cards.
Who is that team? None other than the Kansas Jayhawks, who are “gaining real traction” in this recruitment, per Tipton.
It is obvious that Mark Pope hasn’t yet given up hope in this recruitment, but it appears all signs point to the former Adidas AAU circuit player ending up playing for a brand that reps the three stripes.
Now it appears we can really turn our attention to the other 5-star point guard, Deron Rippey Jr.
Get ready. College basketball recruiting is off and running.
