Bayern Munich played out a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in a game where the Bavarians should have run away with the win, instead settling for a disappointing result. Joshua Kimmich played the entire match after the passing of his father, and the 31-year-old turned in a positive performance despite the lack of match practice, as pointed out by assistant Bayern coach Aaron Danks.
“Obviously a very difficult period for him, but I thought he would show how professional he is, return to the team, play
the full game – and give us Joshua Kimmich’s energy,” Danks said after the match (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “He was all over the pitch in possession and out of possession. It was positive for him.”
Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano scored for Bayern, who plays away at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next. After that, it’s another away match: against Mainz in the Bundesliga.
