What is the story about?
Welcome
to BTSC’s Friday night open thread:
- While I’m not a Catholic myself, I know a decent number of you may be celebrating Good Friday today and prepping for Easter celebrations this Sunday. If that describes you (or if you celebrate some of the Easter traditions without being Catholic), what are you and your loved ones doing to celebrate the holiday? Did you practice Lent, and if so, what did you give up this year? Do you have any alternative Easter celebrations, like doing an Easter egg hunt with the kids? A roommate and I used to watch zombie movies during the weekend, and I’ve carried that forward ever since.
- Easter is also a great time for candy, whether you enjoy chocolate bunnies, Reese’s eggs, or even Peeps (though I’m silently judging you if you enjoy Peeps). What’s your favorite Easter candy? And which holiday has the best themed candy?
- I’ve been battling a bit of the flu this week and eating a lot of soup. Ryland’s asked for favorite soups in the past, so I’m bringing that back this week as it’s top of mind for me. Also, what’s your go-to remedy when battling a cold/flu bug?
- Last weekend I went to watch the new movie Project Hail Mary and really enjoyed it. I won’t say much more about it — and try not to give any spoilers in the comments if you’ve seen it — but it got me thinking: what is the Mt. Rushmore of space movies? There have been many movies that are either about space or set in space over the years. Which ones are your favorites and why?
- Sticking with the space theme, we’re going to go with one of my favorite comedic musical acts giving tribute to a legend of rock.
“Bowie’s in Space” — Flight of the Conchords
