What is the story about?
BYU’s full schedule is finalized as the Big 12 released the Big 12 Conference Schedule Monday afternoon. The full 18-game conference schedule is below.
Takeaways
- BYU’s opener is January 3 at Kansas State, which could feature Preseason All-Americans AJ Dybantsa and PJ Haggerty. Haggerty was Second Team AP All American for Memphis last season.
- Both BYU-Utah matchups will be in January and on a Saturday.
- BYU’s “bye” will be between the Texas Tech and Utah games in January. Each team in the Big 12 has one week where they only play one game.
- One of the toughest stretches on paper is the 4-game stretch from Jan 17-Jan 31. Utah at home should be a win, but Texas Tech, Arizona, and Kansas will likely all be ranked.
- The other tough stretch is the five games between Feb 7-Feb 21. Colorado at home shouldn’t be tough, but Houston, Baylor, Arizona, and Iowa State all likely will be ranked.
- BYU has a great chance to start 4-0. Kansas State isn’t an easy road trip and a rivalry road game is never easy, but BYU should be favored in the first four games. BYU the last two seasons has started 2-4 in Big 12 play.
Below are the teams BYU will place twice, home only, and away only.
Home and Away: Texas Tech, Arizona, Utah
Home Only: Houston, TCU, UCF, Colorado, Iowa State, Arizona State
Away Only: Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas, Cincinnati, West Virginia
Below is BYU’s non-conference schedule. BYU will
have a long break between the final non-confernce game Dec 22 versus Eastern Washington and the Jan 3 Big 12 opener at Kansas State.
