It is clear at this point in the season that the Cleveland Browns’ ability to put points on the board and have a productive offense is the difference between winning and losing. The defense has continued
to dominate week after week, but with Shedeur Sanders making his second start of the season, what does the Browns’ offense need to do to get a win over the San Francisco 49ers?
Lean on the run game.
As Sanders continues to get comfortable operating the Cleveland offense, the team will need to rely on Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson in the running game. Sampson is coming off one of his strongest performances in both the run game and pass game, recording a total of 82 yards. Focusing on the run will allow the Browns to control the clock and put pressure on the 49ers.
Protect the football
San Francisco is one of the highest-ranked teams in the league for turnovers forced this season. It will be critical for Cleveland to protect the football and limit the 49ers’ ability to gain momentum in this matchup. Smart decision-making from Sanders and the offensive weapons will be crucial.
Allow Sanders to take some shots.
If the Browns can lean on the run game, it will help open up the offense and allow Sanders to take some shots and push the ball downfield. While these moments shouldn’t occur frequently, Cleveland can selectively take shots at big plays. Any chance at high-impact gains will help Sanders grow more comfortable leading this offense.
