AEW Dynamite airs tonight (Apr. 1) with a live show from Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. This is the third episode of Dynamite during the four week build to Dynasty, which takes place on April 12.
Will Ospreay is already facing the consequences for returning so soon from neck surgery
Will Ospreay has a huge score to settle with AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley and the Death Riders after they tried to end his career last September at All Out. Mox says this isn’t personal for him, and he doesn’t feel any sympathy when a man faces the consequences of his actions. What
did Ospreay expect would happen when he willingly walked into that unsanctioned steel cage match with a broken neck?
Ospreay now has to face the consequences of returning so soon from neck surgery when he steps in the ring with Jon’s right hand man PAC in a singles match tonight on Dynamite. Mox says The Bastard has “even less patience than me for [Ospreay’s] emotional response” to the situation. PAC clearly has bad intentions in mind when he said he can’t wait to wrap his hands around Will’s vulnerable neck.
This is only Ospreay’s second match since his run-in at Revolution. His return match against low carder Blake Christian didn’t even go 10 minutes and was sort of like dipping his toes back in the water. Tonight’s match is taking things to a much higher level, as Moxley describes PAC as the “elite of the elite” and “top of the food chain” when it comes to AEW wrestlers.
Can Will Ospreay survive 20 minutes or so with The Bastard and return to form as the best wrestler in the world in just his second match back in AEW? Tune into Dynamite to see what exactly are the consequences for Will after returning quickly from neck surgery and jumping right into the fire with PAC.
The rest of the card
Kenny Omega has a very busy night on Dynamite. The biggest priority on his schedule is a contract signing with AEW World Champion MJF for their title match at Dynasty. Have both stars read the small print in the contract to make sure there are no shenanigans afoot for their PPV bout? Will MJF’s trash talk towards Omega focus on his aging body and nearly dying from diverticulitis, or will he instead make fun of Kenny’s lowest moments as AEW EVP, such as a backstage fight with a certain punk?
Omega is also competing in the ring in a trios match tonight. He teams up with Brody King and AEW National Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry against The Demand. Ricochet actually said he blames Omega for his recent loss of the belt to Perry, citing a conspiracy theory about Kenny using his EVP powers to make sure GOA was kept out of the 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal. Will the finish here lead to some kind of rematch for the belt at Dynasty between Jungle and Ricochet?
There is a women’s trios match on the card too, as Mina Shirakawa teams up with Brawling Birds to take on the Triangle of Madness. Mina is super pissed off and threatening to “beat the piss” out of AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla after she cheated to win their singles match last week and also mocked Toni Storm’s “cold, dead body.”
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– Adam Copeland & Christian Cage plan to get revenge on FTR after they tried to cripple Cope’s wife Beth last year, and that means taking away the thing that FTR values most, the AEW world tag team championship, at Dynasty. FTR says the babyfaces are just a nostalgia act who are shells of their former selves. What will Adam and Adam’s asshole do tonight to make FTR realize that they are far more dangerous than just two old guys playing the greatest hits?
– Andrade El Idolo wants to go after the AEW world championship, but Don Callis seemingly struck a deal with MJF and now has Andrade wasting his time on keeping Darby Allin away from AEW’s top prize. After Darby was laid out last week, does he plan to take out a dozen Don Callis family members with Molotov cocktails before possibly getting his hands on Andrade at Dynasty?
– AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada and Konsuke Takeshita are both trying to win over the heart of TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher. What will happen to this angle if Fletcher has to miss time due to injury?
– What is Swerve Strickland’s backup plan for gaining power in AEW after last week’s attempt to become an EVP failed? How quickly will he get another chance to become the number one contender for the AEW world title?
– Mercedes Mone dropped another title in Winnipeg last night and has lost almost all of the championships that she collected last year. Will she stick around in Winnipeg one more night to make her surprise return to AEW tonight and set up a match for Dynasty?
– Tony Khan has less than two weeks left to book roughly 10 more matches for Dynasty. So don’t be surprised if we get some rapid fire angles tonight featuring stars like the Young Bucks, Tommaso Ciampa, The Conglomeration, AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion, AEW World Trios Champions JetSpeed & Mistico, TBS Champion Willow Nightingale, Claudio Castagnoli, The Rascalz, The Dogs, etc.
– The Don Callis Family just keeps getting bigger and bigger after adding yet another new member this week. There has to be some kind of April Fools’ joke related to Don’s family size tonight, right?
– Is “Speedball” Mike Bailey still shaking Kenny Omega’s hand?
– Where the f*** are The Blade, Chris Jericho, Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, Keith Lee, Nyla Rose, and The Butcher?
What will you be looking for on Dynamite?
