Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we are talking about Mizzou Softball!
This wasn’t how Mizzou Softball’s season was supposed to end.
All the Tigers needed were six outs against Auburn to secure eligibility for an at-large postseason— something they haven’t done since their 2024 Super Regional appearance.
Then the wheels fell off.
Within minutes, Auburn had erased a 2-0 deficit, and created a 4-2 lead over MU with time running out. The gap turned to four runs in what turned into a total collapse by the Tigers and they couldn’t
find any runs to get back in it.
With the loss, Mizzou misses the .500 mark and will spend a second consecutive season wondering whether Larissa Anderson is fit for the head coaching job moving forward.
Dylan broke down the game and I’ll have a season recap/what’s next piece coming out soon.
We have more discussion on football and basketball, diving into prospects, visits and PFF grades in the Rock M+ forums.
Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
In the latest softball bracketology from Benjamin Rosenberg, Mizzou is a No. 3 seed in the Lincoln, Nebraska Regional — but things can obviously change with a loss to Auburn. (Editor’s note: And by change, we mean if they don’t win the season is over)
Editor’s note had it to a tee. The season is over.
Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts return. That’s basically all you need to know for 2026. As a positive addendum, Coach Luper already has their replacements on the roster and ready to jump in: Xai’Shaun Edwards from Houston Christian and Malae Fonoti from Montana. At this point Loop’s guys have earned my 100% trust so expect one of those two to be Missouri’s next great 1,000+ yard rusher.
If one thing is for certain: Mizzou will have Ahmad Hardy at running back next year.
Abby Carr came in to replace her, starting strong with back-to-back strikeouts. But she quickly lost control, allowing a walk and a single to shallow left that moved runners to the corners with two outs.
Abby Carr I’m sure learned a lot this game. I hope she’s back in black and gold next season but who knows with today’s landscape.
Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzou football discussion and basketball discussion with the offseason picking up for football and basketball.
