The second Money in the Bank qualifying match to take place on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Mexico City was noteworthy for a couple of reasons. It featured two NXT stars making their main roster debuts though under hugely different circumstances.
This was a heavily promoted main roster call up for Lola Vice, who got vignettes for weeks announcing her arrival on the red brand. However, it also represented the first match on Raw for Kelani Jordan, who came into tonight as the NXT women’s
champion and decidedly not here on a more permanent basis. Or at least it was never presented that way.
To top it off, Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez was the third!
Like I said, a lot going on.
No different than the men’s qualifier, the result was no real surprise, considering all that context.
Vice showed out, putting together a relatively strong performance. Jordan got a moment or two but it was all about establishing Vice City. She pinned Rodriguez — surely that will come up later when it’s time for a singles feud over the mid-card title — to join Sol Ruca as the two women who have qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
An exciting field so far.
