The Jets own the second pick in the NFL Draft. What should the team seek to do with the pick? We asked the question in our most recent SB Nation Reacts survey.
Owning the second pick gives the Jets a chance to land a top prospect. But in a year without a quarterback worthy of the second pick and all of the top pass rushing prospects carrying question marks, should the team look to trade down?
According to the voters in our poll, the answer is yes.
Of course the reason Jets fans want to trade down is
also the reason a trade down might be easier said than done.
The desire to move down and collect extra picks is motivated in no small part by the lack of a slam dunk prospect. But why would another team want to trade up to 2 without a slam dunk prospect?
Fans rooting for a trade up need to hope that some team values one of the prospects available at 2 much higher than the Jets rate him. Or they might have to accept the Jets receiving a lower return than the typical book value of moving down from 2.
