Monday night at Lumen Field the Seattle Seahawks upended the Houston Texans to move to 5-2 on the season heading into the bye, with the next game on the schedule being a Sunday Night Football matchup against
the Washington Commanders.
During the victory over the Texans, the Seahawks once again used the same five starting offensive linemen they have all season, seemingly giving the team at least some level of the continuity head coach Mike Macdonald has mentioned on multiple occasions.
At wide receiver it was once against the Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp show, with Tory Horton coming in third while playing than that forty percent of offensive snaps. Jake Bobo saw his second highest snap count of the season, playing more than he had in any game other than the stomping of the New Orleans Saints, as Dareke Young played a season low one offensive snap, but remained a key member on special teams until forced out of the game due to injury.
On defense, Tariq Woolen returned and played all but one defensive snap while helping holding the Houston offense to just 13 points, with the only touchdown surrendered by the defense coming just ahead of the two minute warning. It was another very solid showing for the defense, with Seattle heading into the bye with opponents scoring the sixth fewest points against at 19.4 points per game, even with much of the starting secondary missing significant time.
The potential for the group with the return of Julian Love and Devon Witherspoon to the secondary and Derick Hall up front against Washington should have fans excited for the postseason possibilities of the team for the first time in a long time.
On special teams it was, as it regularly is, the Brady Russell show, with Chazz Surratt, Tyrice Knight and D’Anthony Bell the other special teamers to log at least 20 snaps during the game.
And now it’s on to the bye week.
