As evidenced by the photo above, there is much joy in the Big Apple right now as even the legendary Olivia Benson of the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is celebrating the latest chapter of the New York Knicks indescribable run to the team’s first NBA Championship since the 1970s.
We’ve been chronicling that 14-1 run (with one to go), largely because of the involvement of WWE’s newest and hottest act, Danhausen. The demonic-person who cursed and uncursed the Knicks to seemingly reverse the team’s fortunes
even made ESPN’s latest high reel for New York after their stunning 29-point comeback in the second half of last night’s Game 4 to take a 3-1 series lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals.
In addition to being fans of pro wrestling, many of us around here are fans of so-called “real sports”. We’re also part of the SBNation network, most of which covers and discusses competitions that don’t have scripted outcomes.
Or do they?
We’re seeing the influence of legalized gambling on pro leagues (like the NCAA) more and more every day. Even before every piece of sports coverage was plastered with betting lines and fine print about addiction, we saw theories about pro sports like the NFL being scripted for years.
WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman isn’t crediting Danhausen, Taylor Swift or however many Chambers of the Shaolin RZA and company brought to Madison Square Garden last night (June 10). For this famous New Yorker, the Knicks hot streak is just like WWE’s critically-acclaimed Bloodline saga was after WrestleMania 40 — the product of great creative:
I think it’s time we all recognize the NBA has a great creative team and writers. Wow. What a story! Texas heels rout hometown heroes in the 1st half at the World’s Most Famous Arena (@TheGarden ), only for the babyfaces to perform the greatest comeback EVER! My compliments!
Let us know what you make of Heyman’s theory below. We’re thinking it could be the result of Paul E being speared out of his shoes by Bron Breakker in Italy last week, but we’re also running out of ways to explain the 2025-2026 New York Knickerbockers.
