it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TKO didn’t allow fans to attend WWE’s huge announcement about WrestleMania 43 being in Saudi Arabia because they didn’t want any boos to overshadow the news, which could have caused the “real press in town” to ask “real questions” about it.
- Per The Observer, WWE’s original plan for Clash in Paris was for the Wyatt Sicks to defend the tag team titles against Andrade and Rey Fenix. A change was made for the Street Profits to be the challengers after Andrade failed a drug test and was sent home by WWE.
- Multiple people told WON there was some frustration in WWE that Andrade’s “English never got better.” One person in WWE indicated there was “buyer’s remorse” during his latest run there, as the fans just never got behind him the way they did for other AEW talent who came back to the company like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes.
- The latest odds at BetOnline have John Cena as the favorite to beat Brock Lesnar tonight at WWE Wrestlepalooza on ESPN.
- Sources told WrestleVotes that Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre will be the main event of Wrestlepalooza.
- TMZ says Raja Jackson’s felony charge was for “battery with serious bodily injury.” A “jail official” told the outlet that Jackson was “already bonded out” by early Friday morning.
- Puck News heard from a “well-placed Hollywood source” that Netflix has considered making a bid to purchase Warner Bros. Discovery. WBD is AEW’s longtime broadcast partner.
- Variety says a live-action movie based on the popular 1980’s Teddy Ruxpin toy is “set to be produced by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions.”
- F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer claims that AEW talent were not allowed to appear on Ariel Helwani’s show after Helwani described his contentious interview with Tony Khan as the worst one of his career. That ban has apparently been lifted, as Ricochet and Toni Storm did interviews with Helwani this past week.
- Meltzer notes there are still people in WWE who use the term “Snowman” to refer to Khan, just as Helwani did at that time. However, several people in WWE reached out to Fightful Select to say they’ve never heard that nickname used internally.
