Worlds collided ahead of WWE and AAA’s co-produced event this Friday.
On Sunday, AAA held its final show before Worlds Collide in San Pedro Garza García, a city in the Monterrey metropolitan area. The event marked the promotion’s last stop before the big show in Las Vegas.
As El Grande Americano — dressed in the colors of the Mexican flag — was about to serenade the fans, he was interrupted by AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo. As fans continue to reject Vikingo, he leaned into the hate and taunted
Americano.
“Grande Americano,” Vikingo began as the fans booed, “in reality, you are a fake person, a fake luchador, and a fake Mexican.”
Vikingo continued, saying he was the best Mexican wrestler and AAA’s best Mega Champion.
Americano did not take these allegations lightly, telling Vikingo, “Listen to me, fake champion, I’m more Mexican than a lot of Mexicans, fool.”
As Vikingo posed with the belt, WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio — the man who will challenge Vikingo for the Mega Title at Worlds Collide — appeared on the big screen. He told fans this was the last time they would see Vikingo with the title, as he planned to leave Vegas as a double champion.
“Everyone is going to call me the King of the luchadores,” Mysterio vowed.
Vikingo took Mysterio’s words in stride, posed with the title once more, and left the ring.
That left fans and announcers asking one very important question: Was El Grande Americano going to sing or not?
No mames, güey — of course, Americano sang, and the fans in attendance ate it up.
Worlds Collide takes place this Friday at 10 PM ET, streaming free on YouTube immediately after SmackDown.
