The San Francisco 49ers inactive list is out:
QB Kurtis Rourke (3rd QB)
DE Nick Bosa (calf)
WR Mike Evans (Achilles)
LB Luke Gifford (groin)
WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring)
S Marques Sigle (ankle)
LB Garret Wallow (hamstring)
The 49ers took the field in Australia with Mike Evans, De’Zhaun Stribling, Demarcus Robinson, and Deebo Samuel against the Rams. Neither of those players will be in uniform in Atlanta. It’ll be interesting to see how the 49ers use Christian Kirk and how often he plays.
The 49ers are
low on bodies to the point where rookie Enrique Cruz is active for the first time. While Cruz is unlikely to see action at offensive tackle, it paints a picture of how snake-bitten this team is by injury heading into Week 7. It’s worth noting the 49ers will have nine offensive linemen active.
Last week, Kyle Shanahan moved Christian McCaffrey around the formation more than ever. It would not be surprising to see McCaffrey play more of a Cooper Kupp kind of role where he’s running a bunch of underneath routes to help the offense stay ahead of the chains.
No Wallow or Gifford at linebacker, but Dre Greenlaw returns. That means Tatum Bethune and Jalen Graham will be special teamers. We’ll see if that makes a difference.
Upton Stout is active after a shoulder injury that forced him to miss Monday Night Football. The secondary will be tested by Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and don’t sleep on Jahan Dotson against these cornerbacks.
