Why the Chiefs are the perfect landing spot for QB Anthony Richardson | Yahoo! Sports
Yahoo Sports NFL analyst Nate Tice is joined by fantasy analyst Matt Harmon from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis to discuss why the Kansas City Chiefs would be the perfect destination for new trade candidate, Colts QB Anthony Richardson.
“For Richardson to come in there, get into sort of the Andy Reid teaching zone there- Yeah Eric Bieniemy, it’s a guy that he can push him, you know, I think.
Like, like I said, I’m
obviously skeptical of just a lot of what’s going on- Kansas City Chiefs offense-wise, but still, like, they might need a guy to start the first month of the season.“
SMART: Kansas City Chiefs sign Kenneth Walker III for three years, up to $45 million
Over the last two seasons, Chiefs running backs have ranked fourth-worst in rushing yards per game (75.3), second-worst in yards per carry (3.7) and second-worst in explosive run rate (8.8%). That won’t be the case anymore — not with the reigning Super Bowl MVP joining Patrick Mahomes in a fresh offense run by returning coordinator Eric Bieniemy. And you can throw on highlights from Walker’s championship-winning performance to quickly assess what Kansas City is getting. He finished 2025 with 42 explosive runs (including the playoffs) and a 14.7% explosive run rate, both second-best among running backs (minimum 150 carries). Walker topped 1,100 scrimmage yards in three of his first four NFL seasons, despite splitting work with Zach Charbonnet over the last three.
As first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tennessee Titans are slated to release cornerback L’Jarius Sneed after he spent just two seasons with the team. The Chiefs, of course, traded Sneed to the Titans during the 2024 NFL offseason. His tenure in Tennessee has been about as bad as it can get, appearing in just 12 games after dealing with a number of nagging injury issues shrouded by mystery over the past two seasons.
The former fourth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech in the 2020 NFL Draft spent four seasons with Kansas City, establishing himself as a lockdown cornerback. During that span, he amassed 303 total tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, 40 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. It wasn’t so long ago that Sneed was the team’s No. 1 cornerback.
The Chiefs obviously have some needs at the cornerback position after the departures of Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and Joshua Williams. They’ve added Kader Kohou to the mix, but adding a player like Sneed would be appealing for many reasons.
After first wave of 2026 free agency, what are the top needs for every NFL team? | The Athletic
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs’ top remaining need is edge rusher. Kansas City can feel good about some of its youth there — George Karlaftis won’t turn 25 until April, while rookie Ashton Gillotte showed some positive flashes late last season — but the best defensive teams can rotate players on the outside. Former first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah has constantly battled injuries, and the Chiefs have yet to replace free agents Charles Omenihu and Mike Danna on their depth chart. Expect K.C. to address edge rusher late in free agency and also with a top-two-round pick in April’s draft. — Jesse Newell
Five Things to Know About New Chiefs CB Kader Kohou | The Mothership
2. He recorded double-digit passes defensed in back-to-back seasons from 2022-23.
Kohou recorded exactly 10 passes defensed in both 2022 and 2023, becoming one of just 20 players across the league to do so during that timeframe.
Kohou then followed that collective performance with another strong season in 2024, tallying eight pass-breakups while ranking sixth in the NFL in yards allowed-per-coverage snap.
Overall, Kohou recorded 28 passes defensed during his first three years in Miami, establishing himself as one of just 12 players to amass eight or more pass-breakups in each season from 2022 through 2024.

TE – David Njoku
Kansas City did re-sign Travis Kelce to a one-year, $12 million contract, but the Chiefs could still consider acquiring Njoku, who surprisingly remains available.
With the amount of money invested in Walker III, Kansas City will implement the running game more, which will benefit from lining up in 12-personnel. Additionally, Njoku’s arrival would open the door for Kansas City to release Noah Gray.
Around the NFL
Both teams in recent weeks discussed trading for Brown, whose frustrations in Philadelphia were a running subplot of the Eagles’ 2025 season. While the Rams and Patriots remain interested, no move is imminent. If a trade were to happen, league sources say it would likely heat up closer to June 1.
The Rams wound up using one of their two 2026 first-round picks to acquire All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie last week.
Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman is juggling several salary-cap-related decisions, including the future of tight end Dallas Goedert. The void date on Goedert’s contract was pushed to Monday, and clarity on Brown’s future could help shape several other roster decisions for the Eagles.
The Athletic previously reported that Roseman’s philosophy has remained consistent, dating back to last season: He won’t part with a great player for nothing, especially for an Eagles team in the middle of its championship window. His asking price for Brown was a first- and a second-round pick.
RB Travis Etienne on signing with hometown Saints: ‘It was more than a cherry on top’ | NFL.com
“Etienne, like A-C-H-A-N-E,” he said. “That’s how you’ve always said Travis Etienne.”
Joining Friday’s edition of The Insiders, the veteran running back was encouraged by NFL Network Insiders Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo to introduce himself with the correct pronunciation, something he feels will be easier to adopt in the Big Easy.
Signing a four-year, $52 million deal to play for the Saints wasn’t bad, either.
“It was more than a cherry on top, man; it was the cake, the cherry — It was everything, you know?” Etienne said of his homecoming. “Just having an opportunity to be able to play for the Saints, you know, just growing up, in Louisiana, been a Saints fan my whole life, you know? And being able to be blessed with this opportunity, man, It’s like, I feel like it was more than a cherry on top — it was everything.”
Source: Ex-Packers LT Rasheed Walker agrees to join Panthers | ESPN
The one-year deal is worth a maximum of $10 million, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Walker, a former seventh-round pick, became a starter for the Green Bay Packers in Week 2 of the 2023 season after All-Pro David Bakhtiari went down with a knee injury and never gave up the job.
He made 48 straight starts until he was held out of last year’s Week 18 game when the Packers rested several starters for the playoffs.

Chiefs’ Kenneth Walker ready to work with Eric Bieniemy, ‘He’s intense’
The Chiefs certainly wanted Walker, and it’s easy to imagine offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and new running backs coach DeMarco Murray backing up the idea. The two former NFL running backs have a combined 16 years of experience touting the rock professionally, and that isn’t overlooked by Walker.
“It means a lot because they played the position,” Walker began. “So their word, I feel like it holds more weight because they were in this position before when they played in the league.”
Not only has Bieniemy played the position, but he has also coached players who have become all-time players like former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and, of course, Chiefs legend Jamaal Charles.
Whether it’s 2006 or 2026, Bieniemy is going to demand a lot from his players, and Walker has already felt that energy.
“He’s intense. The more he talks about it, the more intense he gets… you want a person like that who’s real passionate about the game, so I’m excited to get to work with him.”
